Ayn Rand – Atlas Shrugged

Uf. To je bilo pa eno najdolgotrajneših branj. V bistvu najdolgotrajnejše. Začel sem ga kar kakšnih 10 let nazaj, vendar spričo težkega jezika in kupa neznanih besed takrat odnehal.

“I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”

“Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exit unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value.”

“Don’t ever get angry at a man for stating the truth.”

“Money is made… made by the effort of every honest man, each to the extent of his ability. An honest man is one who knows that he can’t consume more than he has produced.”

“There are no evil thoughts except one: the refusal to think.”

“You do not have to depend on any material possessions, they depend on you, you create them, you own the one and only tool of production.”

“For centuries, the battle of morality was fought between those who claimed that your life belongs to God and those who claimed that it belongs to your neighbors – between those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of ghosts in heaven and those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of incompetents on earth. And no one came to say that your life belongs to you and that the good is to live it.”

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”

Who is John Galt anyway?
